Headwaters Fly Fishing Company Stream Reports - Upper Mississippi River

Current Reports for Upper Mississippi River:
Select Year:

7/12/2005 - Week of July 11th

The upper Mississippi is fishing very well. The water level is slightly up which has concentrated the fish slightly. Poppers are the best bet, the water is stained and a noisy popper is a perfect presentation. This is a quick report, I have been out on the water a lot and I will report more later

7/6/2005 - Week of July 4th

The river continues to drop. The fish are still agressive and taking poppers well. White Millers are starting to show up between 8:30 and 9:00PM.Bankside lies are still the best fish producer but several fish have been caught several feet out from the bank.

6/30/2005 - Week of June 27

The Upper Mississippi has been fishing extremely well the last few days. High, warm water has the fish near the banks and in an aggressive mood. Poppers fished aggressively have been the best presentation. The fish find the loud surface presentation quickly in the stained high water.

6/28/2005 - Week of 6/27

The Mississippi is dropping quickly. The warm weather has generated some fish activity. I expect the fishing to improve every day as we progress in to summer.

6/21/2005 - Week of 6/13-6/20

The Mississippi is high and tough to fiah. Look for the river to drop next week, but still be high.

5/19/2005

Smallmouth season is not open yet! The river is at a nice level and looks like it might set up for a very nice summer of fishing. Let's hope for a warm summer compared to last year's cool pattern.
